In 2016, UBT established the Preparation for PhD Studies School at UBT (PFP School). The school’s mission is to prepare UBT’s young faculty researchers for a successful academic career. The gates of the school are also open to other Kosovo and non-Kosovo researchers who find the training and support programs offered by the school desirable for their own development. The school also equips its students with knowledge that is not typically included in the program of traditional doctoral schools. The school also places great emphasis on developing students’ intuitive abilities and vision. This is done within the framework of special training programs. However, PfP School does not intend to replace a doctoral school and does not award a PhD degree. The task of the school is much more to have as many real scientists in the region as possible and in this respect, it is less important to us what academic degree these peers have.
An important function of the school is talent search, talent development, talent management. we are primarily looking for talented young people who may be suitable to become researchers at the BME-SzIU-UBT Joint Transformative Research Center. The school also offers life long support to its graduate students. And those researchers who collaborate with us who face unexpected difficulties during their careers can use our science coaching service.
In order to develop the services of the school, we have established cooperation with Corvinus University Budapest. We also sent students to several doctoral schools in Corvinus and systematically processed the experiences gained during their training. the main question to be examined was how to support our delegated students without interfering with the training processes of the given doctoral schools. We can say that the cooperation was successful. Several of our students have already taken the PHD degree before the four years of training have elapsed.
